Mexicans in America Just Want Respect!

The American flag is the new Confederate flag.

That’s all they’re asking for – just a little respect. Of course, by “respect” they mean having the basic human decency not to display the American flag. That’s now a symbol of hate. I wrote yesterday about the kids out in California who were sent home from school because they were wearing American flag shirts on May 5th, which Mexicans call Cinco de Mayo. The Mexican principal of the school told them their shirts were “incendiary” and they either had to change them, turn them inside out, or go home. This caused quite an uproar among the parents of white kids in the school, who denounced the principal. In return, hundreds of Mexican students from the school marched through the area demanding “respect” from the gringos.

Teresa Casillas, parent of two Live Oak students, said the American-flag wearing students were yelling “We live in America!” at the brunch break Wednesday. She said her children were upset by their behavior at school, calling it disrespectful.

“We’re all offended by it,” Casillas said. She said parents of all ethnicities she spoke with felt that way. “Morgan Hill is too small of a community to start any racial wars. This is just bringing it out a little bit more.”

The incident has set off a firestorm of outrage online, a flurry of media coverage and a backlash from some in the Hispanic community, who have been offended by some of the defenses offered for the four students.

After the Morgan Hill Times broke the story, Bay Area news stations set up camp in front of Live Oak High School Thursday morning as many more students came to school wearing red, white and blue. In addition, the story made it to national media outlets, such as The Drudge Report and the front page of FoxNews.com.

Locally, about 200 Hispanic students walked out of Live Oak and Ann Sobrato high schools, chanting “Si se puede” and “We want respect” and disrupting traffic as they marched through Morgan Hill to demonstrate their support for Mexico.

“It’s disrespectful to do it on Cinco de Mayo,” said Jessica Cortez, a Live Oak sophomore. “They can be a patriot on some other day. Not that specific day.”

Got it? It’s now “offensive” to point out that this is the United States of America, and, while white folks are still allowed to be patriotic on most days, they shouldn’t be allowed to display their patriotism on May 5th, as that’s “disrespectful” to our Mexican invaders.

Well, if the American flag is considered disrespectful and offensive on May 5th, and shouldn’t be allowed on that day, it’s hard to understand why it’s OK the rest of the year. And you’ll see more and more of these kinds of stories, year ’round, as the tens of millions of illegal invaders allowed in by Reagan, Clinton, the Bushes and now Obama begin flexing their political and racial muscles.

And guess what? Many liberals, usually all bent out of shape about the 1st Amendment when it comes to pornography and filth, actually agree with the principal’s decision. They’re attacking the boys who wore the shirts as “racists”, and as we all know, “racists” have no 1st Amendment rights.

The American flag is the new Confederate flag.
