A dozen boys from Blocco Studentesco (Student Bloc) were injured after being attacked by about hundred people from other youth centers at the Literature Faculty of Roma Tre university. They were assaulted while distributing leaflets for the forthcoming election regarding the national council of university students on Via del Valco di San Paolo . Nine Blocco militants have ended up in hospital, six were seriously injured. Among them, the National President of Blocco Studentesco and candidate for the election, Fransceco Polacchi. He is currently under observation in hospital with a fractured forearm and two head injuries.
“We speak here of a real attack – says Polacchi -. There was about fifteen of us, and we conducted our campaign as is done usually before elections, when we saw a hundred people coming out of nowhere armed with helmets, sticks, stones and chains. Some residents living on the street have attended the scene and left their testimony to the police.
“The attack took place a hundred meters from the social center “Acrobax”. “It is clear that this was premeditated”, added Davide Di Stefano, Blocco Studentesco’s National Coordinator. “It was a violent action and planned to intimidate us and prevent us from doing politics at university. It is clear that something as serious can as this would not take place without the attackers being guaranteed impunity, which is why it deserves an appropriate response. This response will be presented to the President of University Roma Tre, Guido Fabiani, who is required to ensure the smooth running of the elections. We will also talk to the Minister of the Interior, the Mayor of Rome Gianni Alemanno and the Governor of Lazio, Renata Polverini. All are required to ensure the safety of citizens. “
