“The court of appeals is where policy is made,” said Sonia Maria Sotomayor, in February, 2005, in a panel discussion at Duke University.

“The task of a judge is not to make the law, it is to apply the law,” said Sonia Maria Sotomayor, July 13, 2009, at the opening of the senate hearings for her confirmation as a Supreme Court Justice.

These two statements alone should convince any objective person thatSotomayor is fundamentally untrustworthy. She is a politician, not ajudge. For her, the bench is an opportunity for social engineering. Forher, the purpose of a judge is to affect or “change” social values. Forher, saying what seems appropriate at the moment is the most importantpolitical skill. All major liberals excel at self-contradiction, fromthe current enemy in the White House on down.

“I would hope that a wise Latina woman withthe richness of her experiences would more often than not reach abetter conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life” saidSonya Maria Sotomayor, October 26, 2001.

“Of course one’s life experience shapes who you are, but … as a judge, you follow the law,” said Sonia Maria Sotomayor to liberal Leahy, June 2, 2009.
