Right you are.  There is a near north side neighborhood in Houston called “The Heights.”

At a town hall meeting a few days ago (chron.com for the Houston Chronicle article) was over run with concerned white residents who want to know what the city government is going to do about the rising number of robberies and home invasions occurring in this neighborhood.

This is a neighborhood with Hispanics who are living in pockets with whites who have moved back into an old German neighborhood and attempted re-gentrification of the area.  Unfortunately, this has resulted in numerous burglaries, etc. because the criminals can’t keep their hands off other people’s stuff when they leave for work, etc.

I would imagine gun sales are way up in this area.
A coworker of mine moved into this area; bragged constantly about it and yet everyday was on the horn to the police complaining about marijuana smoking in the public park across from his house, littering, how the basketball court attracted non-residents (blacks, etc.) into his neighborhood and how the whites and people in his neighborhood did not play basketball and the hoop needed to come down.  He basically found out why the house he bought was for sale, but you couldn’t tell him that.

After repeated attempts to deal with the goings on, he finally moved to another area of, where else?  The Heights.  He is now divorced and was forced to resign from his job as an assistant chief prosecutor for being a “racist.”  End of story.  He is also an alcoholic, got a DWI and finally got it dismissed after numerous court appearances and much money spent on his lawyer.

So much for moving into a “formerly” bad area and trying to revitalize it.

I think what’s coming will be reminiscent of the old Ren and Stimpy cartoon where Ren comes home from work and sees riots on the news and says, “Oh goody, chaos and mayhem.”
