Pan-Negroism : The Global Negroland Movement

Dalitstan Journal, Volume 1, Issue 2 (October 1999)

Negro land

Pan-Negroism has its roots in the early 20th century, originating amongst African-Americans who desired the political unification of the ‘Black Belt’ US South with Africa to form a Black Super-state. From here it has spread amongst Negro populations all across the world. The initial concept of Pan-Africanism has now expanded to the notion of a ‘Negroland’ spanning the globe. The chances of Arabs in North Africa joining a Black African federation are virtually non-existent. As a result, most Black intellectuals, scholars and leaders have turned to the ethnic-based Global Pan-Negroism instead of the older geographical-based Pan-Africanism, hoping to further their causes through unity and solidarity. It is also a reaction to the Caucasoid ‘Send all Blacks back to Africa’, to which the Pan-Negroists reply, ‘No – We’ll stay right here, and make this land a part of Negroland’. Indeed, any part of the world where Negroes are in a majority is viewed as part of Negroland.

World Dominance

An image of grandeurhas been built up around Negroland. Many Black intellectuals have establishedthat Negroland would be the largest and most powerful nation, or nation bloc, onEarth. Such statements, often derided by Caucasoids, are however, grounded infact :

  • Area : If established, the Negroland federation would be the largest nation on Earth, sprawling across the 4 continents of Asia, Africa, North and South America.

  • Population : The envisaged Negroland would include about 1 billion humans. In terms of population, it would thus equal superpower China, but would surpass that nation in terms of natural resources.
  • Minerals : The mineral reserves contained in this bloc would be staggering. The gold fields of South Africa, the immense iron reserves of South India, the Texan and Louisianan oil fields and the Brazilian diamond fields would all be under its control. The wealth thereby generated would be colossal.
  • Industry : Industrial development is still somewhat lacking in Negroland, but with the wide availability of minerals, this can be offset in times to come.

In the world of power blocs to come, Negroland stands as one of the largerunits. With the immense resources and manpower at its command, it would not befar-fetched to view Negroland as one of the major power-blocs of the postCold-War era.
