States think YOUR information should be available only to them
States are becoming more aggressive in their resistance to comply with Sunshine Laws or their Open Records Laws. They are using the cover of more recently passed laws, such as the DPPA, to justify their actions and deny access to the Public Record. Currently, all DPPA restricted databases will require users to select an exemption prior to each search. We feel the need to keep you informed to the status of this situation since access to certain databases may change or may be more limited in the future.
