UK Hate Cops to ‘Investigate’ Puppet

Police to investigate Basil Brush for “racism”

Our Mental Health correspondent writes:

It is reported that Basil Brush or, rather, the Basil Brush Show, is being investigated for “racism” after a “member of the public” made a http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=2516 to police!

Apparently, the “member of the public” concerned, reported a scene that portrayed a http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=2763 woman trying to sell Basil Brush heather and pegs. The episode of the children’s puppet programme in question was a repeat (aren’t they all!) and was broadcast on – wait for it – Childrens BBC!

Furthermore, Northamptonshire police have confirmed they received a http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=3434 about a TV show featuring Basil Brush last month. A police spokesman said: “The complaint was logged as an incident of a racist nature and our Hate Crimes Unit is investigating.”

Can they be serious – “Hate Crime Unit investigating an allegedly “racist” hand puppet at taxpayers’ expense! Have they nothing better to do with their time we wonder?

However, one Bridie Jones, whom we understand to be a representative of something called the “England Romany, Gypsy and Irish Traveller Network”, accuses the UK media of double standards when it comes to racism. This person is reported as saying; “I find it very upsetting and distressing that in this day and age the media will use a puppet to get their own negative views and opinions across of a group that is struggling to survive. They are not allowed to joke about blacks or Asians any more because they would be taken to court, but when it comes to Gypsies or the Irish travelling community they mock us – and to them it’s not racist. We are the last group of people in this country who you can openly mock and make racist jokes about – who else is there?”

Well – how about us – the native British?
