Dog Collared for Race Slur

“Racism” mafia sends star to the doghouse

Reality television star Duane “Dog” Chapman is the latest celeb to undergo the special hell reserved for famous people who run afoul of America’s self-appointed thought police. Chapman, whose “Dog the Bounty Hunter” show on A&E is a popular and often fascinating look at America’s sordid legal demimonde, was surreptitiously recorded, apparently by a disloyal relative, using the infamous “N-word” while denouncing his son’s black girlfriend. The profanity-laced tape was leaked (or sold) to the supermarket National Enquirer tabloid.

America’s “racism” mafia has swung into gear, catapulting Dog into the ranks of recent race heretics like Nobel Prize laureate Dr. James http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=2222 in these kinds of cases, which follow a script. Chapman has been on cue, issuing the pro forma self-abnegating apology, complete with the trademark corniness that has made him so endearing to his fans. “My sincerest, heartfelt apologies go out to every person I have offended for my regrettable use of very inappropriate language. I am deeply disappointed in myself for speaking out of anger to my son and using such a hateful term in a private phone conversation. It was completely taken out of context. I was disappointed in his choice of a friend, not due to her race, but her character. However, I should have never used that term. I have the utmost respect and aloha for black people, who have already suffered so much due to racial discrimination and acts of hatred. I did not mean to add yet another slap in the face. I am ashamed of myself and I pledge to do whatever I can to repair this damage I have caused.”

Chapman has also taken the next step, “reaching out” to the odious Sharpton for “help.” However, displaying his usual arrogance, Sharpton has said Chapman will have to wait on him until he finds room in his busy day planner for a sitdown.

Of course, Chapman’s forced “apology” is as sincere as the pretended outrage of Sharpton and Innis, whose movement depends on these kinds of incidents for publicity and donations. In fact, Chapman’s language on the tape does not indicate any particular racial view: he is the father of mixed-race children and expresses some sympathy for blacks. But many people from Dog’s class background often use this kind of language; in fact it is so common amongst blacks themselves that the NAACP recently held a symbolic funeral to “bury” use of the “N-word.”

Swear words reflect a reaction against overarching societal values, which is why in Catholic lands such words are often blasphemous in content, while Protestant nations are famous for sexually-themed cursing (as lavishly displayed on born-again-Christian Dog’s purloined tape). Now that political correctness has laid down a new orthodoxy about certain kinds of speech, words like the “N-word” are bound to become more common in lowbrow circles. Meanwhile, people like Al Sharpton will continue to cash in.
