‘Hispandering’: Anheuser-Busch Offends European-Americans

“As good as the honky woman checking you out.”

Dear Western Voices World News Readers — please write a snail mail to Anheuser-Busch expressing your feelings about their billboard in Denver. The billboard has since gone, but it’s still worth putting the heat on the Anheuser-Busch corporation, and any other corporations, media outlets, or government officials that say things offensive or insulting or degrading about European-Americans.

Dear Anheiser-Busch, Inc.,
SUBJECT: OFFENSIVE BILLBOARD IN DENVER
I am writing to express my extreme dismay at an advertising billboard in Denver Colorado. Here is what I learned about the billboard: “I love you, man: Bud Light knows what Mexicans like: beer and white women.”

At least, that’s what a choice billboard at Colfax Avenue and Monroe Street seems to indicate, with its pronouncement that the beer is “tan buena como la güera que te está mirando.” For those not in the know, the word güero is on par with gringo, a term used by Mexicans to refer to their pasty neighbors to the north. Güera, then, would be the female form of this, and this cocksure little ad plays off that to speak to Denver’s ever-growing Mexican community, basically proclaiming that Bud Light is “as good as the honky woman checking you out.” I am never going to drink your beer and neither are any of my friends. You need not reply because nothing short of a billboard that says, “White people are awesome, drink Budweiser” will change my mind.We are going to teach large corporations like Anheiser-Busch that you cannot take white people for granted, and you cannot insult us with impunity.

Sincerely,
