A New Tradition For The Political Cesspool!

The Political Cesspool is all about education and motivation — and having a little fun too. Now we are doing all of that in a special segment devoted to grass roots political activism with an old friend — our very own Washington “insider” — Peter Gemma.

On alternate Monday nights, at 7pm sharp, we host Peter in a rapid fire review of issues and “insider” info and get the latest political scoops. The show is based on his popular column, “Grass Roots Action,” that appears in the powerful publication, http://www.manews.org. Please be sure to have paper and pencil in hand as we work our way through a variety of ways to impact the policies and politics we care so much about. The next briefing from Peter Gemma is coming up on Monday, Sept. 10th at 7pm. I understand that among other topics, on we’ll be discussing are …

* Two new books, very different from each other, but both of special interest: Defending Dixie by Professor Clyde Wilson, is a fast-paced but extensive panorama extolling the unique history, politics, and culture of the http://www.faebooks.org/store and John Mearsheimer and Steven Walt, the Chicago/Harvard University professors whose article last year on the Israel Lobby caused an uproar amongst hardline supporters of Israel, have just published a blockbuster book, The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy. * Tennessee’s very own Fred Thompson has made a big splash into the presidential candidate pool, but is he really “the next Ronald Reagan?” Peter and I will discuss a bit of “Big Fred’s” record. Hint: it’s worse than you thought.

* There is an exciting new resource for taxpayers seeking a reliable answer to the questions “Where are my tax monies going?” and “How much is this costing?” A national http://www.showmethespending.org for encouraging states to enact accountability transparency spending policies has been created. For those interested in getting any overview of what’s happening in any and all states, a report on current legislation along with a review of existing databases is now available. There’s even a “Take Action” page, where you can send a message to your state legislators.

* There are some excellent resources in the fight against illegal aliens: Greedy and unpatriotic employers face public disgrace when they are confronted and exposed for hiring illegal aliens. Grassroots activists are posting photos of people hiring the workers and the names of their companies on www.wehirealiens.com. The website reports one million hits a month, and currently publicly identifies some 3,000 shamed employers in 47 states. Looking for material for a letter to the editor? Use the information at this website to write letters to small weekly newspapers where the larger national issue of illegal immigration can be linked to the issue’s local impact. Also, there is http://www.smartbusinesspractices.com available for patriotic businesses who want to hire Americans and stay clear of the pitfalls of employing illegals.

* Of course, no discussion with Peter Gemma can be complete without a peek inside some political campaigns, the latest in handicapping the candidates, and some brainstorming about what the polls really mean.

I’m excited we can offer Political Cesspool listeners this opportunity to get better informed and involved: on the air and now on this website. Peter Gemma is a veteran political campaign consultant, a frequent commentator with such media appearances as Nightline, All Things Considered, and 60 Minutes, and is an award-winning freelance writer for publications ranging from USA Today to Southern Partisan magazine. Tune in Monday (9/10) at 7pm and you’ll know right away why I’m so excited about this new Political Cesspool segment!

As always, The Political Cesspool can be heard live each weeknight, from 7pm – 9pm Central Time on AM 1380 WLRM in Memphis, Tennessee.  Our internet simulcast and broadcast archives are available via our website, which opens up our show and the amazing guests who join us to a worldwide audience.
