Kosovo: To partition or not?

By M. Bozinovich

During last month’s visit by France’s Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner, the leader of the Kosovo Muslim extremists Agim Ceku suggested that his leadership may be willing to consider partitioning the province. Reports followed that the American envoys were meeting with the French debating the map Ceku proposed.

This weekend’s tour of the troika suggested that the partition plan was the foremost on their minds when meeting with Ceku in Pristina and the Serb President Tadic and Prime Minister Kostunica.

The fact that the troika was so vocal about the partition implies that Kosovo Muslims, in all likelihood, agreed to the map.

In hope to get Serbia to agree to the partition map, the EU envoy in the troika suggested that Serbia will not join EU unless it cuts a deal on Kosovo, a deal such as the one these Muslims extremists in Kosovo are offering.Today, in a wise move, a high official from the Democratic Party of Serbia rejected both the partition and any exchange for EU membership.
