Hundreds of African migrants ran amok when police took action against illegal street sales in the tourist town of Salou, not far from Barcelona.
The migrants allegedly vandalized shops and restaurants, and assaulted both police and innocent bystanders.
Riot police in the Spanish region of Catalonia took to the streets to stop the hundreds of migrants who suddenly went crazy in Salou a little over a week ago.
It all started after police raided an apartment in pursuit of illegal goods being sold on the streets. Under scrutiny a Muslim man from Senegal tried to escape the police. He did so by jumping out the window on the 3rd floor, and to his death.
The other migrants in the area, mainly Muslim men from Senegal, began to attack both police and innocent people on the streets.
Chairs and tables from restaurants were used as missiles, garbage cans were destroyed and overturned and trash scattered throughout the streets.
The local train station was occupied and objects were thrown on the tracks.
Pedestrians and tourists had to run for their lives with ferocious migrants in their heels.
Several police cars were destroyed.
The migrants also threw large stones against the police officers who came to restore peace in the area. This resulted in several injured policemen.
Islam is the predominant religion in Senegal. 92 percent of the country’s population is estimated to be Muslim, where most of these came from.
