Witness Testifies In Craigslist Ad Murder Case

Three black gang members lure white college student to his death.

Testifying Tuesday in a hearing for three teenagers accused of killing a college student who responded to a Craigslist ad to buy a computer, a woman said she heard a gunshot and screeching tires, then saw three black teens running through a Paradise Hills neighborhood.

Marinor Monsalud testified as a preliminary hearing got under way for Rashon Abernathy, 17, Shaquille Jordan, 17, and Seandell Jones, 18.

The teens, who are being prosecuted as adults, and Jones are charged with murder and other counts in the shooting death of 18-year-old Garrett Berki, a 2010 graduate of La Jolla High School who attended Mesa College.
Monsalud testified that she was hanging out with friends in front of her garage on Doria Way sometime after 10:30 p.m. on May 11 when she “heard a gunshot and tires screeching.”
