Mestizo Charged in ‘Knockout Game’ Robbery

‘Youths’ are at it again.

A St. Louis teenager was charged this morning for his role in an apparent “knockout game” robbery of a 73-year-old man in the Tower Grove South neighborhood on Wednesday morning.

Edduar Reyes, 17, of the 4100 block of Taft Street in St. Louis, was charged with second-degree robbery and resisting arrest. The incident happened at about 8:45 a.m. when the man was walking to his car in the 3800 block of Hartford Avenue.
He was approached by a group of individuals and after speaking to them briefly, the man was hit and knocked unconscious, court documents say. When he came to, he discovered his wallet was gone and he called police. Shortly afterwards, two St. Louis police officers were attempting to stop Reyes in the 3300 block of Hartford in connection with the case and ran away despite their commands to stop. Afterwards, he admitted participating in the crime and described it as part of a “Knockout Kings” game.
