Teacher Sues District For Calling Him Racist.

What does the word “niggardly” actually mean? Apparently, Mendocino County (CA) school bureaucrats don’t know…

Dennis Boaz is a history teacher who is suing administrators of theMendocino County Office of Education for defamation (“Uproar over wordchoice results in lawsuit by Ukiah teacher,” Oct. 15). Mr. Boaz, whowas bargaining for Ukiah schoolteachers, wrote a letter saying that the”tenor of the negotiation tactics of the district office has becomeincreasingly negative and niggardly.”

The response was a memo from one defendant of the lawsuit that impliedthat Boaz was racist, and a letter co-signed by the other defendant andnine other individuals in the Mendocino County school system statingthat Boaz’s comments were “racially charged and show a complete lack ofrespect and integrity toward Dr. Nash, Ukiah Unified DistrictSuperintendent,” who is black.

Apparently, Boaz is the only educator in Mendocino County who knows themeaning of the word “niggardly.” I think he should also sue theadministrators for allowing children to be taught by teachers who areignorant and/or stupid.
