High profile bigot (pictured right) demands resignation of popular Sheriff
With 160 officers anddeputies trained in immigration laws, the Maricopa County Sheriff’sOffice has arrested around 1500 illegal immigrants. So the gospel,according to Al, is that it’s racist to arrest people who break thelaw. Interesting viewpoint, Reverend.
It’snot difficult to imagine the Reverend Al labeling someone a racist soit shouldn’t be a surprise to hear he’s knocking at the door of ourvery own Sheriff Arpaio.
In a press conference earlier this week, civil rights leadersthreatened to storm the streets of Phoenix if the Maricopa CountySheriff refuses to resign. The call to action came after the sheriffauthorized immigration sweeps on Tuesday. Sharpton, along with ACORNCEO Bertha Lewis, promised to make personal appearances if the sheriffdoesn’t submit, accusing him of racially profiling Hispanics.
Arpaio’s response could very well mean the circus is coming to town.
Arpaio pretended not to know the Reverend, saying, “What is hisname? Sharpton? He wants me to resign? Have I got news for him. He canstick that in his pipe and smoke it.”
Arpaio, trooper that he is, went on to say, “I’m never going toresign. The guy is living in a fantasyland if he thinks he is going topressure me into anything. He doesn’t even know where Arizona is.”
