Traditionalist Catholics Plan Election Prayers

Analysis special to Western Voices

European Americans United and Western Voices World News understand the importance of religion in the lives and culture of the diverse European peoples. As such, for those who are religiously inclined, we generally support participation in religious communities and efforts whose doctrine and practice are in keeping with the well-being of our Folk. Thus, readers of Western Voices World News occasionally see articles written from numerous religious perspectives; including Traditionalist Catholic, Kinist, Orthodox, some Protestant denominations, and even pre-Christian religions such as Asatru and others.  We aren’t a religious organization and therefore do not advocate any particular faith, and take a neutral stand on theological questions. Nevertheless, we are supportive of beneficial religious practice generally — for those members of our diverse European people who are religiously oriented.

One of our members recently brought the existence of a Traditionalist Catholic “prayer campaign” to stop the election of Barack Obama to my attention. Even though I’m not a Roman Catholic (Traditionalist or otherwise), I found this to be of interest as a manifestation of organic resistance with implications for broader activism and organizing for activists of other, like myself,  religious backgrounds.

Catholic Family News (CFN) is publicizing a national “prayer campaign” to prevent Barack Obama from taking the White House next week. The opposition of Catholics to Obama stems from his social liberalism. Not only is he a staunch supporter of abortion, Obama even supports so-called “partial birth” abortion, where a healthy full term child is killed at birth in a form of infanticide. As part of his support for abortion, which automatically disqualifies his support by any faithful Catholic, Obama backs the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA), which will federalize all abortion law and take that legislative power out of the hands of states.

Another bone of contention is Obama’s support of homosexual “marriage.” Ominously, Obama’s “tolerance,” like all politically correct “tolerance,” is highly intolerant. “We must vigorously expand hate-crime legislation and be vigilant about how these laws are enacted,” he says, the kind of Orwellian thought policing beloved by the likes of the Anti-Defamation League that has led to persecution of dissidents.

CFN sees an Obama win as a spearhead for a largescale climate shift in US politics towards leftism, with all the dangers for freedom such a change will carry. Obviously, praying is not a specifically political act, but this effort is an interesting look into the wide variety of dissent in America in response to the dislocation and dissolution of the Western world, the kind of crisis that would create a situation where a person like Barack Obama could even be seriously considered for such a high office in the first place.

Traditionalist Catholicism, which revives the old Latin liturgy and Catholic social teachings (such as those giving rise to Distributism) is seen by Traditionalists as a response to the weakening and compromise within the leadership of the Catholic Church, an important aspect of European derived culture and thought which claims the faith of millions of European-derived people. The Traditionalist mindset is perfectly encapsulated in a young Traditionalist’s statement: “http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=2204."

This effort on the part of Traditionalist Catholics (those who question many of the “liberal” changes brought to the Church at the Second Vatican Council) is part of what EAU analysts call “organic resistance.” As the Western world experiences unprecedented transformation and loss, various interest and affinity groups (what the left calls “communities”) will form and increase their influence among a growing number of aware European people. One example is the Minutemen, who formed organically in response to the illegal alien invasion and the lack of federal government action.

While such groups are often based around a single issue, and may have some views at odds with other groups, they represent, overall, a trend that is healthy. In founding large families, homeschooling their children, banishing television and celebrating European cultural expressions, there are a lot worse religious formations out there than Traditionalist Catholicism.

Traditionalist Catholicism is a broad term that runs the gamut from Sedevacantists like those in Mel Gibson’s church, who feel that the liberalism of the current and last few Popes made their rule illegitimate, to groups like the Society of Saint Pius X, who still support the Papacy despite its liberal errors, to groups carrying out the Latin Mass, with the full permission of Rome. Even the current Pope Benedict XVI has been called a Traditionalist, and has made a number of decisions and statements that are in line with Traditionalist ideas.

With their large families, social and political conservatism, and affinity for historical European cultural expression, non-Catholic nationalists find a lot to like with these organic resisters. Their Protestant equivalents are found in many Evangelical conservative churches and groups, as well as in nondenominational networks like the http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=5699 and among preachers such as the Reverend Ted Pike, Chuck Baldwin and others. Eastern Orthodox churches, which are still largely based on European ethnic populations, have also seen an influx of converts from Evangelicalism seeking traditional expressions of a religion that defined millions of our people for hundreds of years, and which also often maintained cohesion in the face of Muslim or Communist domination.

Organic resistance from a religious angle is a growth area to watch. The changes we have seen in recent decades have left scores of millions of our people bereft of the support people need.

The family has been gutted, with broken homes, and illegitimacy increasingly the norm. Mainline Christian denominations have abandoned centuries of teaching and practice in the interest of fads. Local and regional identities have been uprooted (think of “white flight”), while schools often resemble prisons or warehouses and colleges are straight-jacketing institutions of enforced conformity and group-think. Politics and the old political labels have become meaningless. Soldiers have become mercenaries and police have become soldiers. Heroes have been made into villains, while culture has become a function of endless, hollow marketing and hype.

This profound, apparent loss of the will of the West to even survive is reflected in the managerial political systems, technocratic bureaucracies void of ideology or direction which the Europeans call “purple” coalitions: blended “center left” and “center right” governments standing for nothing except for their own continued rule. People are http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=2078, self medication through alcohol and food, and so many other problems.

According to the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Center for Injury Research and Policy, suicide rates in the United States have soared, a result of increases among the white middle aged, particularly white women, the first generation raised to consider marriage, children and family to be “options,” behind careers and material “success.” The lives of these unfortunate victims also spanned the period of greatest social transformation our race has ever suffered outside of wartime. “Further research is warranted to explore societal changes that may be disproportionately affecting the middle-aged in this country,” said a co-author of the study. In the same period, the level for other racial groups remained stable or, as with blacks, actually declined.

While political solutions to these problems are being sought by more and more of our diverse European-derived people, as seen in the growth of nationalist organizations in Europe, these systemic problems also have cultural and religious aspects beyond simple politics. This is why organic resistance is seen in such areas (especially in the United States) as the “gay marriage” question. In fact, “gay marriage” is not itself the issue; what animates opponents is an overwhelming, but often misunderstood sense of loss of the values and traditions the West once upheld. For these people, “gay marriage” is merely the latest symptom of a larger dissolution. Similarly, fight-backs with a religious focus against the death of the West actually speak to larger issues. The growth of Traditionalist Catholicism, Evangelical Protestantism and even some kinds of non-Christian, European derived faiths, reflect this.

Another point of interest in watching the Traditionalist phenomenon is the fact that pro-European-American activists share many of the same enemies with the Traditionalist Catholics. Hate groups like the SPLC have launched vicious, narrow minded Catholic bashing attacks on Traditionalist people and organizations, the vehemence of which mirror the venom spewed by the Know Nothings of the 1850s. “By their enemies you shall know them” is often a handy gauge. The Anti-Defamation League, a particularly arrogant Zionist gang who would be considered a fringe hate group if not for their financial backing and political influence, even went so far as to demand that Pope Benedict actually change Christian doctrine and stop Catholics from praying for Jews, partly on the grounds that the Papal stance was too Traditional. Disgusting smear attacks on Pope Pius XII (slandered as “Hitler’s Pope”) from these same quarters is also interesting when considering that many Traditionalists think of him as the last Pope before the Church’s slide into liberal “modernism.”

The support Traditionalist Catholics maintain for patriotic causes is certainly a fact, with a particular emphasis on cultural issues. Certainly, in opposing materialism, globalism, Marxism and cultural dissolution nationalists and Traditionalist Catholics share many of the same concerns. References to events like the Battle of Lepanto are common, recollecting a time when the Church felt that the West was worth defending. The recent beatification of http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=3261.

In Catholic Europe Traditionalists form an important part of the core of patriotic movements, consistent with the statement of http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=2968, is a Traditionalist, with a large number of offspring to prove it.

In the United States Patrick Buchanan, often called a Traditionalist, enjoyed their support in his Presidential campaigns. Traditionalist (and conservative) cultural Catholics are prominent in the paleoconservative intellectual movement in the US, among them http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=5135 (author of The Bad Catholic’s Guide to Wine, Whiskey & Song) and Joe Sobran (The Reactionary Utopian). E. Michael Jones, PhD, is a Traditionalist who edits Culture Wars magazine and whose new book The Jewish Revolutionary Spirit and Its Impact on World History has raised the expected hackles of the usual suspects.

Statement from CFN:

Whether you plan to vote for John http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=4777 Novena and in the daily recitation of a special approved prayer against “revolutionary menrdblquote .

CONSIDER:

• Obama is the most pro-abortion candidate in history. Catholic Bishop Arthur Serratelli of Paterson, NJ, in a recent column on his diocesan website, effectively compared Obama to Herod. Obama has promised to pass the Freedom of http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=5016 Act. Should Obama keep this promise, said Bishop Serratelli, “not only will many of our freedoms as Americans be taken from us, but the innocent and vulnerable will spill their blood.” The Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA), introduced in the United States Congress in 2004, would remove all restrictions on abortion in the United States, both on the state and federal level. “FOCA goes far beyond guaranteeing the right to an abortion throughout the nine months of pregnancy. It arrogantly prohibits any law or policy interfering with that right,” says Bishop Serratelli. This is the “dark reality” kept secret by propagandists for ‘choice’.”

• Obama vows to fight for the legalization of http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=4750 legislation. In June, Obama sent a letter to the Alice B. Toklas Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Democratic Club saying he supports repealing the Defense of Marriage Act and the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” US military policy. In 2004, Obama sent a letter to a “gay” newspaper in Chicago in which he called the Defense of Marriage Act “abhorrent” and said, “We must vigorously expand hate-crime legislation and be vigilant about how these laws are enacted.” Such pro-homosexual hate crimes legislation is being used around the world to persecute Christians. Last year, a Columbia bishop was jailed for refusing to allow a homosexual into his seminary. “Hate crimes” could also be used against churches that refuse to perform homosexual marriages; and used against schools that teach homosexuality is a sin.

• Even the Wall Street Journal is concerned about an Obama win. An WSJ article entitled “A Liberal Supermajority” warns of “one of the most profound political ideological shifts in US History. Liberals would dominate the government in a way they haven’s since 1965 or 1933” and warned that an Obama victory would unleash “a period of unchecked left-wing ascendancy.” WSJ also noted that an Obama presidency would result in regulatory overkill in the business world; substantial tax hikes; a “green” tax to repel so-called “climate change”; and the “Fairness Doctrine” that would effectively silence conservative ralk radio and political opposition.

Catholics throughout the nation (such as Father John Corapi) are organizing Rosary novenas on the nine days prior to election day. Let us unite all of our payers to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The battle of http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=5886 was won not so much by superior firepower, but by Catholics praying the rosary to defeat the enemies of God.

PLEASE ALSO RECITE ON EACH DAY OF THE NOVENA
THIS PRAYER APPROVED BY THE CHURCH

Prayer given by Our Lord to Sister Marie de Sainte Pierre (1816-1848 – Apostle of the Holy Face of Jesus), to divide and conquer revolutionary men.
Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and all the instruments of His Holy Passion that Thou mayest put division in the camp of Thine enemies, for as Thy beloved Son hath said, “a kingdom divided against itself shall fail”.

The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass (Tridentine) will be offered for – and in union with —  all those who take part in the Novena on October 27 and November 4.
