Political correctness run amok
Dear Friends,
In the past few years my husband and I have discussed the possibility of adopting a child from a Eastern European country to complete our family. Consequently I went online and requested information about adoption from several agencies that said they specialized in Russian and Ukrainian adoptions. I clearly stated that I was ONLY interested in adopting from this area and that I wanted a child that would fit into our family, and not a child of another race. **
A few days ago I received yet again, another email about adoptions of nonwhite children from a Third World county. When I responded, telling them that I had made it clear I was only interested in adoption of White children, the agency representative wrote back that I would be removed from the entire program.
Can you imagine a Black or Jewish or Asian couple being sent a similarmessage if they stated that they were only interested in adoption of achild of their race? Of course not.
I would like to post all of our exchange here but for some bizarrereason all of their emails are stated as ” confidential” andcopyrighted. Here though is the letter that I sent to them complainingabout their policy.
Dear Kim,
Sorry you took my request so hard. It is obvious that your firstconcern is for your political agenda and not for the welfare oforphaned children around the world. I specifically made a point ofasking for information regarding ONLY Caucasian children to be sent to me.Yet I have yet to receive even one email with that kind of informationfrom your organization. Why is that so difficult in the day and age ofcomputers? It must be difficult for those of you who have boughtinto the multiculturalism lie to know that there are people who stillrespect and honor the differences in races and know that a child isbest brought up and raised by those of his or her own kind.
As you continue to place African children with middle and upper classWhite families in the United States you are aiding in them in losingtheir culture and helping them to be used as showcase children. I haveseen too many of these poor African children put into situations wherethey are the only black child in an all white school; raised by lilywhite parents who think they are heroes and expect everyone who seesthem to congratulate them on their heroism.
If my husband and I adopt, we will adopt a child who needs us but whoalso will fit into our family and not stand out as an obvious adoption of the outside world. The child we adopt will look like us and mostpeople will think she is genetically ours. In this way the child willfeel they are part of the family because we share common ancestry andcommon appearance.
Hopefully you will rethink your policy in the future and respect the wishes of those of us who embrace real diversity.
