Broken U.S. immigration policy partially responsible for 73% jump in Colorado kids poverty rates

U.S. Rep. http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=4171, is the cause of a significant part of Colorado’s increase in child poverty.

The Colorado Children’s Campaign report released this week showed the number of kids under the age of 18 living in http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=3004 increased 73 percent, from 104,000 in 2000 to 180,000 in 2006, in Colorado. This was the most of any state in America.

“It is irresponsible for the media and the governor to not recognize the fact that http://www.wvwnews.net/story.php?id=3937, we would reduce the number of people in that category.”

The president of the Colorado Children’s Campaign came close to identifying the problem when she acknowledged, “changing demographics of the state” as a contributor to the increase in poverty levels. Political correctness stopped her from identifying immigration as the real problem.Colorado’s foreign born population went up by over 100,000 people between 2000 and 2006 according to the U.S. Census Bureau and the Federation for American Immigration Reform. This was the same time period the Colorado Children’s Campaign used in their report on child poverty.
