Detroit: European American Girl Strangeled To Death By “Friend”

Carissimi’s death stemmed from an argument involving a man, police said. Officials would not divulge more details.

DETROIT- Detroit Police have arrested a 23-year-old Hamtramck woman in connection with the murder of a young lady whose body was discovered yesterday in the Northeastern District. On Thursday April 3, 2008 at approximately 8:40 a.m. a women’s body was discovered along a pathway in a wooded area on Belle Isle.

The victim has been identified as Maria Carissimi (right), a 20-year-old resident of St. Clair Shores. The motive of the crime is not being revealed at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation.

Currently, the 23-year-old resident is the lone individual in custody, but other suspects are being sought. She was arrested at her place of employment less than 24-hours after the homicide was discovered and was taken into custody without incident. The investigation into this crime is ongoing.
