Action Alert: Memorial Day Weekend Closes: Keep Pushing!

Do not be complacent

by John Young

It turns out that our esteemed Senators have been listening more closely to the Chamber of Commerce, the Mexican president and those who truly hate our freedom than to you because they voted for cloture on Monday, May 21st. This moves it from committee to the floor. However, a number of amendments have been proposed, some of which could effectively kill the bill. To see how your Senator voted, click here. The good news is that our voice has been loud enough that the bill they were expecting to ram through on Monday now won’t likely get a vote until after Memorial Day. At least 31 Senators are solidly in America’s corner!
On Memorial Day, we celebrate and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and their posterity. We owe a great deal to our ancestors, and the only thing we can do to repay them is to make sure they didn’t die in vain. Even though we haven’t yet won the victory we wanted, we have made SOME progress toward our goal of defeating this bill. Therefore, it is important that you KEEP THE PRESSURE on the House and Senate! Send your Representative an Email http://www.house.gov/writerep/. Thank you! We are the largest potential voting block in America and we have the potential to bring justice back to our land! Thought Crimes Bills S.1105 and H.R.1592 are both still alive though neither is scheduled for floor action this week. But DO NOT BE COMPLACENT. There is a movement afoot to attach this to a piece of innocuous-looking or must-pass legislation, and this cannot be allowed! Please contact your Senators and Representatives on this again. Also, call the White House comment line at 202-456-1111 and ask that President Bush veto any legislation pertaining to hate crimes since enforcing laws against actions rather than thoughts was our founders’ original intent. Keep up the great work and keep up the pressure, it’s working!
