The bills failed because three Republicans missed the vote

Arizona House Democrats are happy after two immigration-related bills died on the House floor this week.

The bills failed because three Republicans missed the vote.

Democrat Ben Miranda admits the bills are not dead. “Nothing is dead until Russell Pearce says it’s dead, until the last day of the session, until the fat lady sings.”

But he claims there’s a change in attitude among the GOP.

“They’re not as adamant about supporting the kind of positions that people like Russell Pearce has taken. I see a change,” says Miranda.”It’s a change that I think is more realistic. It takes into consideration the labor needs of this country. And the need for an immigration policy that really reflects and meets the needs of this country.”
