Bush Dodges Scandals to Go on Road Trip

“Not only is impeachment the right thing to do, it is criminally negligent of Americans to leave Bush in power for any significant amount of time.”

by James Buchanan

What do you do after your Vice President’s chief of staff has been sentenced to prison, when you’re one of the worst presidents in recent history, who’s walked us into an endless quagmire in the Middle East, spent money like a drunken Democrat and just gotten the Republican Congress voted out of power? Road Trip!!!

Sad, but true, this is apparently how Bush’s mind works. Every one of these pointless trips through the Third World taken by an American president winds up costing American taxpayers billions of dollars in presidential “generosity.” Somehow I doubt if Bush would even fund one of those Third World orphans on the late night commercials if he had to spend his own money.

And it’s not like there’s any brand new problem here at home –like maybe wounded veterans in rat-infested hospitals!!!! No, frat boy Bush needs a road trip to get away from all these terrible domestic problems. Too bad the soldier with the missing foot in Walter Reed can’t enjoy a similar luxury-filled vacation. A recent news article notes “President George W. Bush said on Monday he wants a breakthrough on U.S. immigration reform by August but defended raids against illegal immigrants, a policy that drew criticism during his tour of Latin America. Bush discussed immigration and regional efforts against drug trafficking with Guatemalan President Oscar Berger after promoting free trade and U.S. anti-poverty efforts in a trip to the Mayan highlands…. (Bush) said he hoped to get the Democratic-led Congress to make significant strides toward an immigration overhaul, including a temporary guest worker program, in coming months.”

Not only is Bush neglecting the Walter Reed crisis aside from some token scapegoating, Bush is trying to stick us with his horrendous guest worker amnesty plan again. Geesh, can’t he just drop this bad idea like the Harriet Miers nomination or the Dubai Ports deal (where an Arab nation was going to gain control of five of our major ports).

Apparently Bush won’t give up on his guest worker amnesty anymore than he’ll give up on the Iraq War. What does a board of directors do when they have a CEO who insists on doing things that the investors disapprove? They fire that CEO. We can’t stop Bush from getting more soldiers killed in Iraq. We can’t end the war directly. We can’t plug all the holes in the border which the federal government deliberately leaves open, but we can push for an impeachment based on these failings.

Not only is impeachment the right thing to do, it is criminally negligent of Americans to leave Bush in power for any significant amount of time. He considers himself a dictator. He ignores the Constitution and the new majority in Congress which has voted against his “surge” idea. He is sufficiently detached from reality to wage war on Iran. The sooner we impeach Bush, the sooner we can avoid another major disaster with Bush’s name all over it.
