    Detroit: Black Rampage Injures Several
    General; Posted on: 2008-06-04 16:58:41 [ Printer friendly / Instant flyer ]

More than two dozen men wearing ball caps and baggy shorts blocked traffic in the street as they spread out in the street.**

Police suspect a mob of 20 to 30 young men who brutally attacked a motorist in Mount Clemens on Saturday may also be responsible for at least two other violent crimes that took place the same night.

Four people were taken into custody for questioning and police Sunday were hoping to interview a man who was beaten unconscious during the ordeal and was hospitalized with a fractured skull.

"This certainly was a frightening incident," Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel said.

The victim who was badly beaten was identified by WDIV-TV (Channel 4) as Andy Kauffman. He was reported to be in serious condition at Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center, according to hospital spokeswoman Diane Kish.

** Please note how the Macomb Daily skirts the obvious racial elements of this story. Rather than say 'black perpetrators' they say 'baggy shorts and ball caps.' Rather than say 'white victim' they give the victim's ethnic-sounding name. -- Ed.
