Does no one ... find it odd that the tale of Rosa Parks remains permanently lodged in our national psyche as evidence of racism, yet annual black-on-white mob attacks are wholly ignored?
This is as rare as a 1913 Liberty nickel.
The news media actually reported a black mob attacking white people.
Black-on-white mob attacks were common July 4 as thousands of white Americans attended after-dark fireworks celebrations and thousands of blacks thugs preyed on them.
In virtually every news account, however, the race factor was oblique. Black mobs were typically tagged with the nondescript "teenagers" or "juveniles" leaving readers to imagine hordes of white kids thumping on passing celebrants.
There was one notable exception.

days after the Red, White & Boom celebration in Columbus, OH, The
Columbus Dispatch reported that a mob "of approximately 30 black youths
(both male and female) started walking and running down Broad Street and
randomly assaulted white people — old people, children, women."
