The idea of being one step ahead is an interesting one. He seems to be saying, instead of retreating completely from society, just anticipate more immediate future needs.

I think peak oil, if it is true, is good news for nationalists of all backgrounds because it spells the end of globalism (or at least, globalism as we know it.) When people will be able to move around less easily, localized cultures and industry will once again thrive.
