Let's Talk Pot
Contributed by: John Young on: 03/08/2016 03:51 PM [ Print | 0 comment(s) ]
I am lucky in many ways, but two ways in which I am most lucky are that I have an awesome father and that I can really discuss anything with him. Being a teen, its inevitable that I would have discussed drugs with my dad many times. Usually, of course, he has initiated that discussion.
What my dad told me was to use some common sense. First off, lighting anything on fire and inhaling the smoke is unwise – because all combusted organic material contains carcinogens. Secondly, that any natural substance contains a wide variety of ingredients in impure form and varying proportions, so you can't guarantee the effects. So he told me to research it myself, and come back to discuss my research. After several question and answer sessions, and a lot of questions and several revisions, this is what I've come up with.
Legal vs Illegal
It is never smart to use an illegal drug. Down in Mexico they practically have a war going on, and at the highest levels of pot distribution people actually get killed left and right. It is stupid to expect that people who value human life so little should be supplying something you put into your body. Sometimes there are adulterants, but of greater concern is that sometimes there are undetected molds and bacteria. But even if it is perfectly okay, when it is illegal you are paying money that eventually gets in the hands of people who think nothing of killing innocent women and children. Pot is not exactly essential – so its not worth making murderers rich over.
But separate from that, legal vs illegal doesn't mean anything in terms of safe vs unsafe. Lots of legal drugs and substances are unsafe. Whether it is prescription drugs that get recalled later after people die, or commonplace alcohol and tobacco – people die from these things even though they are legal. Making pot legal would likely make sure it was more free from additives, but it wouldn't make it any more or less safe.
So is nux vomica, the plant strychnine is made from, or hemlock which was used to execute Socrates. The fact that something is natural doesn't make it safe.
More importantly, natural substances can be really complicated in that they contain a lot of different drugs, all of which have different effects. The jimson weed that grows in our unused pasture contains atropine (used for dilating eyes, counteracting strychnine and protecting against nerve gas) but also scopalamine used to erase memory for rapes, and hyoscamine used to dry up mucus secretions.
Pot has a lot of different drugs in it, not just THC, and most of them have not been as studied as other drugs. We generally know most of the effects anecdotally, but there are not a lot of studies – so we really don't know.
A lot of plants are toxic in their natural state, such as castor beans or manioc root, but can be processed into safe and useful substances such as castor oil and tapioca starch. Even though these things are natural and legal, I wouldn't recommend eating or smoking them in their natural state unless you want to die.
Pot doesn't have a track record of instantly killing people … but what do we know about its effects?

Abe was tending the counter when an oppressed individual entered with a single dollar and demanding a pack of cigarettes. Abe told him to get lost. The punk pulled a knife. Abe drew the steel bar he keeps from behind the counter and the punk left. He now keeps the door locked overnight and opens it for each customer.
Conduct yourself like Abe. Realize that civilization was a lie and is now blatantly rotting under the postmodern sun, and therefore no longer requires your complacence to prop up its teetering image. Wake up White Man! Your enemies gather above and below to drag you down and take everything that you have not already surrendered to them. You could use a White Tecumseh just now but I don't see him on the horizon.
Where are the White men who want to be able to defend their friends and family and property and person? Where have they gone?
Could it be, as I have contended since 1998, that they sold the rights to their mansong to USA Records?
Look White People, thank the current Criminal in Chief for finally letting you know that you are slaves living under a reign of terror, instigated and enabled by those above, and enforced by those below. The local, state and federal police and media are denying that white people can be racially attacked. The subtext here is that your death is a misdemeanor [and is your racist ancestor's fault in any case] and the injury or death of your innocent black teen attacker is a hate crime.
It is just heating up my fellow prey items—you are food, get used to it.
White Wife, Jessica, Murdered By Black Husband, Antoine

A Georgia mother is being hailed as a hero after she did what she had to do to protect her 6-month-old baby, which ultimately cost her life.
WSB reports that 33-year-old Jessica Arrendale was out with her husband, Antoine Davis, on Saturday night when he became “belligerently drunk and abusive” towards her. Davis chased her up the stairs of their three-story home where Arrendale tried to fight him off with a baseball bat.
Enraged, the 30-year-old former Marine overpowered her and took the bat, striking her several times with it. Throughout the scuffle Arrendale had 6-month-old Cobie in her arms, who suffered severe trauma to her head which the family suspects was from being hit by the bat.
WHO Says All Men Who Have Sex With Men Should Take Antiretroviral Drugs

The World Health Organization has suggested for the first time that all men who have sex with men should take antiretroviral medicine, warning that HIV infection rates among gay men are exploding around the world.
In guidelines published Friday, it said that it “strongly recommends men who have sex with men consider taking antiretroviral medicines as an additional method of preventing HIV infection.” Similar guidelines were issued by the U.S. in May.

-Population expected to rise from 1.1billion today to 2.4 billion by 2050
-Projections assume that family planning will become more widespread
-Women in sub-Saharan Africa give birth to an average of 5.2 children
-In Niger mothers have on average 7.6 children
-Top 10 countries with the highest fertility are all in sub-Saharan Africa
Africa's population is set to double to more than 2.4billion over the next few decades due to improved health care and medicines, a new study found.
Sub-Saharan Africa - the world’s poorest region - will record the largest amount of population growth of any area in the world between now and 2050, according to the Population Reference Bureau (PRB).
But the massive baby boom could put huge strain on resources and fledgling economies in some of the world's most deprived areas, the PRB warned.
Third World Immigration Has Made Sweden The New Rape Capital Of the World

"The Europe I want is a Europe that is open to the world,..."
Muslims raped over 300 Swedish children and 700 women in first 7 months of 2013 TIP OF THE ICEBERG as 90 percent of them go unreported. In the first seven months of 2013, over 1,000 Swedish women reported being raped by Muslim immigrants in the capital city of Stockholm.
Over 300 of those were under the age of 15.
The number of rapes is up 16% so far this year compared to 2012 numbers. A large proportion of the increase include rape of young [pre-teen] girls. [Bing translated]
The official radio report quoted from BRÅ (The Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention) refuses to mention the M-word in the socialist-suffocated Sweden, a country held hostage by the extreme left. But when you contact senior police and government sources they confirm (anonymous in fear of losing their jobs) that these numbers represent Muslims. And a majority of these rapes and sexual assaults are caused by Malmström’s new arrivals, the asylum seekers.

The way that boys are raised in Russia is very different from how boys are raised in the United States. In Russia, boys as young as five years old are taught survival skills, learn how to use military equipment and are trained in hand to hand combat. Boys as young as twelve are taught to fire assault rifles and some of them even get to experience real paratrooper training. In the United States, on the other hand, we tend to baby our boys. They become experts in skills such as ordering fast food, playing video games and ogling women. In many cases, American boys never even learn how to act like men, and that becomes glaringly apparent once they grow up. So in the long run, which nation do you think will be better off – Russia or America?
By nature, men are hunters. We are not meant to be cooped up indoors all day long. We were created with an inner desire for adventure and activity.
How Long Did YOUR Ancestors Live While Eating Bacon, Lard, & Whole Milk?

My Great-Grandma was a tough ol’ chick.
She ate real, traditional food & could cook up fried chicken from scratch. When I say “from scratch” I literally mean “from scratch”. As in, she would kill a chicken, dress it, coat it with flour, and fry that baby up in a big ‘ol frying pan of lard. She was an amazing woman, my great-grandma. That woman wasn’t afraid of anything. She’d sleep out in the dark woods with hungry bears if you dared her to. She was that tough.
Naturally, when I started to research traditional, nourishing foods, I thought of my great-grandmother. I knew SHE would have supported my lifestyle, and probably could have taught me some amazing traditional cooking skills, but…
Did Grandma really know best?

The Decline of Men in One Word – PORN – And How Colleges Aid and Abet It

The latest column from Julie Baumgardner, president of First Things First, offers a great summary of how porn is destroying men, based on the research from Dr. Phil Zimbardo, a psychology professor at Stanford University, as well as Dr. Gary Wilson, who has studied the neuroscience behind porn watching.
The long and the short of it – porn causes: Erectile dysfunction. Depression. Social anxiety. Severe memory impairment. The list goes on and on, really.
“Dr. Phil Zimbardo, a psychology professor at Stanford University, discussed the demise of guys, stating that boys are flaming out academically and wiping out socially with girls and sexually with women.
… According to Wilson, most boys seek porn by age 10, when they are driven by a brain that is suddenly fascinated by sex. Thanks to high-speed Internet, a boy has access to unending novelty. With each new image, his brain releases dopamine. As long as a guy can keep clicking, he will keep going.
Time To Plan For The Worst Rather Than Hope For The Best

Preparation for disaster, whether natural or man-made, should be as vital as any ideal found in the various practices of religion and spiritualism. Preparedness should be treated with reverence, discipline and duty. The drive for preparation should be seated in the very heart of humanity. As individuals and as a society, we should hold preparedness dear, for it is an expression of the desire for survival and the key to maintaining our inherent freedoms. Without self-sufficiency, we set ourselves up for endless failure and enslavement.
Preparedness must be approached with passionate resolve; otherwise, there is no point. Halfhearted survivalists are just as likely, if not more likely, to get themselves killed as the average oblivious urbanite and suburbanite. Unfortunately, even in the liberty movement, I have come across many halfhearted and lazy survivalists who would rather hope for the best than prepare for the worst.

On the evening of April 8, 1999, a long line of Town Cars and taxis pulled up to the Minneapolis headquarters of Pillsbury and discharged 11 men who controlled America’s largest food companies. Nestlé was in attendance, as were Kraft and Nabisco, General Mills and Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola and Mars. Rivals any other day, the C.E.O.’s and company presidents had come together for a rare, private meeting. On the agenda was one item: the emerging obesity epidemic and how to deal with it. While the atmosphere was cordial, the men assembled were hardly friends. Their stature was defined by their skill in fighting one another for what they called “stomach share” — the amount of digestive space that any one company’s brand can grab from the competition.

20 Signs That The U.S. Poverty Explosion Is Hitting Children And Young People The Hardest
Posted by: Frank Roman on: 12/21/2012 04:16 AM [ Print | 0 comment(s) ]
The mainstream media continues to insist that the economy is “getting better”, but the poverty numbers for children and young people just continue to explode. For example, did you know that the poverty rate for families with a head of household under the age of 30 is a whopping 37 percent? Children and young people sure didn’t cause our recent economic downturn, but they sure are getting hit the hardest by it. According to the U.S. Department of Education, for the first time ever more than a million U.S. public school students are homeless. That seems like an impossible number, but it is actually true. How in the world could the “wealthiest nation on earth” get to the point where more than a million children can’t count on a warm bed to sleep in at night? Sadly, a huge number of American children can’t count on a warm dinner either. About a fourth of them are enrolled in the food stamp program. What do you do if you are a parent in that kind of situation? How do you explain to your kids that you can’t afford a nice home like everybody else has or that you can’t afford to go to the grocery store and buy them some dinner?
Young people are experiencing very rough times right now as well. If you are under the age of 30, it is really, really difficult to get a job in America today. The competition for the few decent jobs that seem to be available is absolutely crazy. Unemployment among young people is at a level that we have not seen since World War II, and this is causing major problems.

The Squeeze and the Surrogate Family
Contributed by: The Free Northerner on: 11/15/2012 10:57 PM [ Print | 0 comment(s) ]
I came across this article (h/t: Instapundit) about the squeeze middle-aged folks, particularly women, are under as they are stressed caring for both their children and their aging parents. According to the article, it is supposedly difficult and stressful to care "for both their children and their aging parents while also managing their income-generating jobs and keeping their partners happy -- all at the same time."
To which the only possible response is: no duh.
It is difficult, if not impossible, because nobody was ever meant to do all that at once. People simply do not have the time and energy to deal with children, old people, a career, and other activities at the same time.
Traditionally, there have always been societal and biological mechanisms to deal with this, but, over the last few decades, we've decided to spit in the face of both.
Throughout history, these mechanisms have varied. Tribal structures, villages, and the like made raising children and taking care of old people a community thing for most people. Combined with the typical "low" age of average death, "early" child-bearing ages, and large families things mostly worked themselves out.
When people started living longer and tribal and community ties began to die due to the mass dislocations caused by industrialization and urbanization, society adapted by adopting what we now know of as the traditional nuclear family in the early 20th century. Combined with some help from local churches and community organizations this worked fairly well, reaching its apex in the decades following war boom.
In the nuclear family model, the family adopts a division of labour to help the running of the household. The husband works and the wife takes care of the family. Families have many kids and they have them at a young age, so when they get old, the children can care for their parents.
Given the realities of modern, mass society, this structure works.
Having children young (in your late teens/early 20s) provided future children to take care of you and makes it so that by the time you need to take care of your elders, your children are already nearing self-sufficiency. It means that you have your youthful vigor to raise your children when you need. (Did you ever think of why you are able to go with minimal and erratic sleep when you're young? It's because it lets you physically handle the realities of a squalling infant unable to tell time. You are not built to naturally be able to take care of young children in your 30s and 40s, you lose the vigor necessary to do so as you age.)
Having lots of children meant that there would be enough people to take care of you when you aged without it being an undue burden on any single child.
Having the wife stay home provided the family with a person who had the time to take care of the children. She had time to take care of elderly relatives. She had the time to take care of sick family members.
There was no generational squeeze, because the division of labour and proper family planning inherent in the nuclear family model gave each individual only what they could actually handle and there was no undue burden on any single family member.
When feminists, and others, criticize the "housewife", they miss the importance the housewife has for modern, mass society. Absent the traditional bonds of tribe and villages, anomie was destroying people in an urbanized, industrial environment. The development of the housewife held this back.
Vasectomies to Avoid Condoms? Think Twice Young Man!
Posted by: John Young on: 11/14/2012 09:10 PM [ Print | 0 comment(s) ]
In our casual hook-up culture, young men afraid of stolen sperm, unwilling to risk "oopsies" and unable to trust young women who say "it's okay, I'm on the Pill" are getting vasectomies in increasing numbers.
But there are three problems with this.
The first is that young men (or any men actually) shouldn't be playing casual hook-up games in the first place.
I realize there are a wide variety of wild, wet and waiting women out there who are more than willing, but they will survive just fine without you. There is literally no benefit to you whatsoever in casual sex. I realize reading about the exploits of pickup artists may be titillating, but the cold hard fact of the matter is that pickup artist tactics and casual hookups contribute to a growth of callousness in our culture that is incompatible with the long term well-being of our folk.
Sex creates bonding hormones for a reason, and creating a cultural phenomenon in which our people become immune to the bonding through casualness or repeated break-ups with partner after partner is unwise. In a promiscuous culture, we all end up inheriting partners who have emotional damage from their sexual relationships with others. Why contribute to this phenomenon when it is so easily avoided?
My mother's advice is appropriate: if she isn't the girl you want to marry, don't stick it in. Problem solved.
Why You Should Use Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration

Let me give you the executive summary: Americans buy about 7 BILLION bottles of prescription and non-prescription drugs annually. Where do those drugs and their metabolic byproducts go? They are eliminated in our urine and feces, which end up in septic tanks or water treatment systems that do not eliminate them. They end up back in the ground water that ends up in our tap and our bottled water. If it is treated again, the addition of chlorine usually serves to make the residues even more toxic and active.
Since we seem to have an insatiable appetite for mood stabilizers of various sorts (anti-depressants, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, ADHD pills, etc.), these have been detected in water supplies all over the country. The old hippies wanted LSD in the water supply, and it looks like they sort of got their wish.
Virgin Brides are STILL Your Best Marital Bet

Back in 2010 Anthony Paik published a study which received widespread media attention at the time. The findings were "spun" in such a way to show that casual hookups could lead to successful long term relationships. Susan Walsh had a look at it and found that the media reporting was quite biased, but this is to be expected, as selective reading of the findings were supportive of the liberal social script.
He did manage to get another study published in 2011, however, the findings in this one could not be spun so easily and hence the media gave it only a nominal amount of coverage.
Titled, Adolescent Sexuality and The Risk of Marital Dissolution, the study attempted to find out whether adolescent sex was a risk factor working against long term marital stability, and if it was, whether the effect was causal or selective. The paper is available from here. (You can get the .pdf at the site)
The science of Slutology is still in its infant stages and Paik acknowledges that there have been very few studies done. He lists the previous work in the area and some of the mentioned papers have been presented on this blog previously.
Only four nationally representative studies have examined whether premarital sexual experiences are linked to divorce (Heaton, 2002; Kahn & London, 1991; Laumann et al., 1994; Teachman, 2003). Nevertheless, the core finding—the association between premarital sex and increased risks of divorce—is robust[Ed]. Teachman (2003) found that women who had sex only with their future husbands did not have higher risks of marital dissolution, which suggests that the premarital-sex effect on divorce is related primarily to having sex with multiple partners.
Now the question that Paik wanted to answer is whether premarital sex made a good woman risk or whether risky women engaged in premarital sex.
Is the Internet Making Us Crazy? What the New Research Says

Before he launched the most viral video in Internet history, Jason Russell was a half-hearted Web presence. His YouTube account was dead, and his Facebook and Twitter pages were a trickle of kid pictures and home-garden updates. The Web wasn’t made “to keep track of how much people like us,” he thought, and when his own tech habits made him feel like “a genius, an addict, or a megalomaniac,” he unplugged for days, believing, as the humorist Andy Borowitz put it in a tweet that Russell tagged as a favorite, “it’s important to turn off our computers and do things in the real world.”
But this past March Russell struggled to turn off anything. He forwarded a link to “Kony 2012,” his deeply personal Web documentary about the African warlord Joseph Kony. The idea was to use social media to make Kony famous as the first step to stopping his crimes. And it seemed to work: the film hurtled through cyberspace, clocking more than 70 million views in less than a week. But something happened to Russell in the process. The same digital tools that supported his mission seemed to tear at his psyche, exposing him to nonstop kudos and criticisms, and ending his arm’s-length relationship with new media.

First Super Weeds, Now Super Insects: Thanks to Monsanto
Contributed by: Dr. Mercola on: 05/31/2012 01:42 PM [ Print | 0 comment(s) ]
A new generation of insect larvae is eating the roots of genetically engineered corn intended to be resistant to such pests. The failure of Monsanto's genetically modified Bt corn could be the most serious threat ever to a genetically modified crop in the U.S.
And the economic impact could be huge. Billions of dollars are at stake, as Bt corn accounts for 65 percent of all corn grown in the US.
The strain of corn, engineered to kill the larvae of beetles, such as the corn rootworm, contains a gene copied from an insect-killing bacterium called Bacillus thuringiensis, or Bt.
