The Silence of the Pulpits

Islam (and its PC boosters) are the final curse of all humanity.
If you are even slightly awake about the world news today, it is no surprise that Christians are being killed, raped, and brutalized throughout the Islamic world. However, there is a place where you can go to escape the dreadful and relentless details of Christian annihilation by Islam. You can just go to church.
For example, Christians were killed this week in Nigeria. Nothing out of the ordinary -- indeed, in the world of Christian persecution, this is routine.
And so the response found in nearly every church to the murder of Christians is...wait for it...complete silence. Not a mention or reference to it, or to the brutality against Christians that happens almost every day in the Islamic world.

Opposing Gay Marriage Is Rational, Not Religious

“The sexual union of a man and woman is called the marital act because the two become physically one in a way that is impossible between two men or two women.”
Many make the mistake of thinking that opposition to gay marriage is
religious. A Facebook friend recently posted this quote: “Have you ever
noticed the same people who claim that marriage is a religious
institution only think that LGBT people shouldn’t get married? They
never seem to object to Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, or atheists getting
married.”

Atheists a Dying Breed as Nature 'Favours Faithful'

For atheists it is the ultimate irony.
Evolution, the process they believe is solely responsible for creating humanity, actually weeds out non-believers while favouring the religious, new research has shown.
It suggests that, over evolutionary timescales of hundreds or thousands of years, people with strong religious beliefs tend to have more children, whereas atheists have fewer children and the societies they belong to inevitably disappear.

Your Ancestors Were Heathen

|
This essay is written for those that know very little about Asatru or Heathenry, or perhaps have not even heard of it.
by Mark Ludwig Stinson
It
is a simple question, really. Did your family come to America from
Northern Europe...or do you have Northern European Ancestry? Well, if
you do...then your ancestors were "Heathens." Many people
with Northern European ancestry do not realize that the original
religion of our People and our ancient culture was not Christianity. If
you go back a 1000 years or more, prior to the conversions to
Christianity in Europe, our ancestors had their own native Folk Religion
that was rich and meaningful in their lives. Our People
honored their own Gods and Goddesses, their ancestors, and the spirits
in nature. These original Heathens were the pre-Christian Northern
European peoples who lived in the lands aroudn what is now called the
North Sea. These included the people of Anglo-Saxon England,
Scandinavia, and other areas of Northern Europe.

Winter Solstice Eclipse 21 December

|
We should have posted this piece much earlier than now. Our apologies. -- Ed.
Understandably, there has been some considerable interest in the upcoming lunar eclipse of the Winter Solstice. In a prior post, I shared some of my thoughts on the astrological impact of the Winter Solstice, and what it could possibly mean for us. Now it’s time to take a look at the eclipse itself.
Once again I must start this post with a disclaimer: I am not an
astrologist. I’m not an expert at reading charts, let alone trying to
create one. What I am is a Pagan with over twenty-five years of
experience under my belt, and hopefully I’ve gained a little wisdom over
the years. With a bit of research, some meditation, and a touch of
inspiration from my tarot cards, hopefully I can come up with some
thoughts to share. Mind you…these will be my own thoughts, and you may
or may not agree with me.

Schmeck the Halls: How Jewish Songwriters Created Christmas
|
Religion; Posted on: 2010-12-18 15:04:42 [ Print / Instant Flyer |

Oy, Christmas. It just wouldn’t be the same without Jewish songwriters.
Earlier this month, the American Society of Composers, Authors and
Publishers released its annual survey of the 10 most-played Christmas
songs. Jews wrote half of them: White Christmas, The Christmas Song, Winter Wonderland, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year and I’ll Be Home for Christmas. And that’s just a few crumbs from the kugel.
Silver Bells, Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer were also yuletide gifts from the sons of Abraham. Johnny Marks, who put Rudolph in flight (twice: he also wrote Run Rudolph Run for Chuck Berry) and gave Burl Ives A Holly Jolly Christmas,
wrote at least a dozen other Christmas songs. He was such a specialist
in Christmas cheer, he called his publishing company St. Nicholas Music.

ADL's Foxman Warns of Efforts to 'Christianize America'
|

|
"...Their vision of America is far different from ours."
Institutionalized Christianity in the U.S. has grown so extremist
that it poses a tangible danger to the principle of separation of church
and state and threatens to undermine the religious tolerance that
characterizes the country, the national director of the Anti-Defamation
League, Abraham Foxman (pictured right ; ), warned in his address to the League's national
commission, meeting in New York City over the weekend.
"Today we face a better financed, more
sophisticated, coordinated, unified, energized and organized coalition
of groups in opposition to our policy positions on church-state
separation than ever before. Their goal is to implement their Christian
worldview. To Christianize America. To save us!" he said.

How Cultural Relativism Masks the Realities of Islamic Terrorism
|
Religion; Posted on: 2010-09-30 15:44:31 [ Print / Instant Flyer |
|
We are dealing with a very different beast than we have ever confronted before in modern history. As a follow-on from my recent Australian Conservative article, 9/11 Retrospective – Islam: ‘religion of peace’ or ideology of terror,
I thought it might be instructive to explore this issue from the
perspective of some of the writers on this topic in the West, who
persist in looking at the issue from a “culturally relativist”
perspective and literally “bend over backwards” to ascribe the cause of
Islamic terrorism to the “alienation” of modern Muslims.
While it is certainly laudable to endeavour to build an approach
around the maintenance of the rights to freedom of speech and religious
tolerance, we saw in the last article
that it is impossible to effectively deal with the issue of “Islamic
terrorism” without understanding both “terrorism” and “Islam”, and their
implications when taken together, since “Islamic terrorism” is a
unique, albeit not a new, phenomenon.

'Islamization' of Paris a Warning to the West

This is a warning we need to heed. Click here for video. Friday in Paris. A hidden camera shows streets blocked by huge crowds of Muslim worshippers and enforced by a private security force. This is all illegal in France: the public worship, the blocked streets, and the private security. But the police have been ordered not to intervene. It shows that even though some in the French government want to get tough with Muslims and ban the burqa, other parts of the French government continue to give Islam a privileged status.

Italy has denied religious status to Islam. Politicians cited extremist
(fundamentalist) imams, polygamy and failure to uphold women's
rights by Muslim immigrants as obstacles to recognizing Islam as an
official
religion in Italy. And here in the US we are paying for extremist imams (like Rauf) and their wives to go on Middle Eastern junkets to raise money for Islamic supremacist Ground Zero mosques. Sick.

The Perils of 'Wannabe Cool' Christianity

What it has not considered carefully enough is that it may well be putting itself out of business with God.
'How can we stop the oil gusher?" may have been the question of the
summer for most Americans. Yet for many evangelical pastors and leaders,
the leaking well is nothing compared to the threat posed by an ongoing
gusher of a different sort: Young people pouring out of their churches,
never to return. As a 27-year-old evangelical myself, I
understand the concern. My peers, many of whom grew up in the church,
are losing interest in the Christian establishment. Recent
statistics have shown an increasing exodus of young people from
churches, especially after they leave home and live on their own. In a
2007 study, Lifeway Research determined that 70% of young Protestant
adults between 18-22 stop attending church regularly.

Mosque Approved for Sheboygan County, WI

Coming soon to a small American town near you. Get ready to hear the call to prayer blaring from speakers in your town.
After an hour and a half of fiery discussion, including comments from two dozen speakers, and before an audience of more than 120 people, the Wilson Town Board voted unanimously Monday night to grant a conditional use permit for Sheboygan County's first mosque.
With the approval, Mohammad Hamad, the Imam, or spiritual leader, of the local Muslim community, said the first worship service at the former Tom's of Wisconsin health food store at 9110 Sauk Trail Road would be held Friday, the traditional day of worship for Muslims.

Clamping Down on Canadian Christians

Religious persecution in the New World.
According to an article in Maclean’s Magazine’s “on campus” website, an organization called the Canadian Association of University Teachers [CAUT] is alleging that Trinity Western University, a Christian University, violated academic freedom. The reason? Because TWU describes itself as a “a faith-based institution, one inspired by Christ’s life and guided by his teachings.” More than that, it requires faculty to sign a “Statement of Faith” annually, in a document that outlines the “philosophical framework to which all faculty, staff and administration are committed without reservation.”
At first glance, one might conclude that CAUT is correct. The concept of forcing faculty to submit to a series of absolutist statements [belief in the bible, in one infinitely perfect god, that Jesus Christ was a real man, and in “the bodily resurrection of the dead; of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.”] seems at odds with the premise of a learning institution as being one of an open-ended perspective on the Universe.

No Christmas
Merry Christmas...NOT!
The Prime Minister Who Stole Christmas
Christmas Wars On
"Little Bavaria" Latest Culture War Front
Special to Western Voices
The Halloween pumpkins are still sitting on front stoops from coast to coast, but the annual Christmas Wars are on. The first salvo of the seasonal hatefest against European American traditions was fired in Warren, Michigan, where a suit has been filed in federal court to attempt to let a Nativity scene be displayed.
A resident of Warren had his permit to display a privately maintained manger scene denied after local government bureaucrats were threatened by the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF). The Nativity scene has been in the same place, on a public median, for over six decades, but now the man who donated the display has had to go to court to protect the tradition. Luckily, the Thomas More Law Center, a public advocacy legal group based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, has filed a federal lawsuit in the case.
The Freedom From Religion Foundation of Madison, Wisconsin is a group of marmish busybodies whose claim to fame is ruining holiday cheer and attempting to impose their own views on society at large through the courts.

LA: Bishop Offers Apology to Hindus

Los Angeles Episcopal Bishop Offers Apology to Hindus over Conversion Attempts
'Christian Doctrine Offensive to Muslims'
From Richard to Rowan
The ultra liberal Episcopal Bishop of Los Angeles J. Jon Bruno offered a formal apology to Hindus for centuries-old acts of religious discrimination including attempts by Christians to convert them.
He then authorized a joint Hindu-Anglican service at St John's Cathedral in Los Angeles permitting Hindu devotees to receive the consecrated elements.
According to a statement read on his behalf by suffragan Bishop Chester Talton, he vowed not to proselytize non-Christians. "I believe that the world cannot afford for us to repeat the errors of our past, in which we sought to dominate rather than to serve, in this spirit, and in order to take another step in building trust between our two great religious traditions, I offer a sincere apology to the Hindu religious community," said the bishop's statement reported by the Los Angeles Times.
