The report by America's Voice, which supports comprehensive new immigration policies, says that revising the laws is the defining issue for Latino voters. The report says that progress — or the lack thereof — in revamping immigration laws and regulations could affect as many as 40 congressional races in areas with sizeable Latino populations, including the re-election bids of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid , D- Nev. , and Sen. John McCain , R- Ariz. , just two years ago his party's presidential candidate.

"Immigration reform is a litmus test in the Latino community," Eliseo Medina , the president of the Service Employees International Union , said during a conference call about the study. "To us, this is a policy issue, but it is also an issue about respect."

Rothschild, a London Banker, wrote a letter saying "It (Central Bank ) gives the National Bank almost complete control of national finance. The few who understand the system will either be so interested in its profits, or so dependent on its favours, that there will be no opposition from that class... The great body of the people, mentally incapable of comprehe will bear its burden without complaint, and perhaps without even suspecting that the system is inimical (contrary) to their interests." In 1913, before the Senate Banking and Currency Committee, Mr. Alexander stated: "But the whole scheme of a Federal Reserve Bank with its commercial-paper basis is an impractical, cumbersome machinery, is simply a cover, to find a way to secure the privilege of issuing money and to evade payment of as much tax upon circulation as possible, and then control the issue and maintain, instead of reduce, interest rates. It is a system that, if inaugurated, will prove to the advantage of the few and the detriment of the people of the United States. It will mean continued shortage of actual money and further extension of credits; for when there is a lack of real money people have to borrow credit to their cost."

Terrorists who want to overthrow the United States government must now register with South Carolina's Secretary of State and declare their intentions -- or face a $25,000 fine and up to 10 years in prison.

The state's "Subversive Activities Registration Act," passed last year and now officially on the books, states that "every member of a subversive organization, or an organization subject to foreign control, every foreign agent and every person who advocates, teaches, advises or practices the duty, necessity or propriety of controlling, conducting, seizing or overthrowing the government of the United States ... shall register with the Secretary of State."

There was also a photographer there, and lo and behold this picture has surfaced of a now familiar face attending the forum - James O’Keefe.

O’Keefe was manning a table at a forum of suit-and-tie Nazis.

A DC area photographer snapped a photo of O’Keefe as he maintained a literature table near the panelists.

Authorities determined seven of those fires were intentionally set and they are investigating one that broke out Thursday as a possible arson. There have been no reported injuries or arrests, and federal officials aren't saying whether there's a connection.

A 16-year-old girl was buried alive by relatives in southeastern Turkey in a gruesome honor killing carried out because she reportedly befriended boys, the Anatolia news agency reported Thursday.

Acting on a tip, police discovered the body of the girl, identified only as M.M., in a sitting position with her hands tied, in a 2-meter-deep hole dug under a chicken pen outside her house in Kahta, a town in the southeastern province of Adıyaman, the news agency reported.

The body was found in December, around 40 days after M.M. went missing. She is being identified by her initials because she was under the age of 18. Her father and grandfather are suspected in the murder.

The attack happened in front of two cameras on Feb. 1 at approximately 3:19 p.m.

Surveillance video from Britton's Mini Mart near Vallejo High School shows the 46-year-old city of Vallejo worker in a back hoe being hit with rocks by some kids. He then drives back to the location at Nebraska and Broadway streets to confront the kids who begin attacking the man. The city worker gets knocked down and eventually a crowd of up to 40 people begin beating the man while he is on the ground.

I hope black people will learn a lesson from the earthquake that hit Haiti. If they don't learn anything from it, then I throw up my hands in despair and give up. 

 

Let's start with a few basic facts.

Until the earthquake, I never knew there was a place called Haiti. I was taught geography at school but I cannot remember a time when the mistress told us about Haiti. It must have been one of those insignificant countries that we had no reason to know about. 

 

I was fairly good at geography because I knew which country was on which continent. I also knew many capital cities. But as for Haiti I was clueless. 

 

Now the whole world, including myself, knows about Haiti. I heard news of the earthquake on the radio. I wondered where Haiti was and what sort of people lived there. 

Sandra spoke about the new Oscars face-off, in which she and Meryl are up for Best Actress.

"With Meryl, when this whole thing started, I left her a voice mail going, ‘You've got to watch your back. I'm gonna cut you. I'm gonna take you down,'" Bullock tells the Associated Press. "And then she sent me dead orchids and told me to die, so I sent her a case of liquor and told her to toast to white trash."

More than three weeks after the 7.0-magnitude earthquake, Bellerive said his tiny Caribbean nation had been ravaged by "a disaster on a planetary scale" and detailed the tragic toll suffered by his people.

"There are more than 200,000 people who have been clearly identified as people who are dead," he said in an interview with AFP, adding that another 300,000 injured had been treated, 250,000 homes had been destroyed and 30,000 businesses lost.

Saying there are too many non-natives living in Kahnawake, the local band council has issued eviction notices to 25 residents, giving them 10 days to leave the Indian reserve on Montreal's South Shore.

About 25 non-natives - mostly white people involved in relationships with Mohawks - are being asked to leave the reserve because Mohawk law does not allow them to live there, said Joe Delaronde, press attaché for the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake.

"They are people with no native ancestry at all," Delaronde said in an interview yesterday.

According to Mohawk law, non-aboriginals have no residency rights. About 7,500 Mohawks live on the reserve.

1. Whenever three or more Volunteer Members live within close enough proximity to cooperate on projects, they may apply to the Board of Directors for permission to form a local Chapter of the Organization.

2. In order to found a Chapter, the At-Large members will provide an application to the Board containing the membership identification of the members of the proposed Chapter, a suitable name for the Chapter, and the membership identification of the member who is proposed to be the Chapter Coordinator. The Board of Directors will review this application and approve or disapprove of the new Chapter, or approve it with conditions on a simple majority vote.

3. The conditions imposed by the Board may include without limitations the appointment of a Chapter Coordinator other than the one proposed, a revision of the name of the Chapter or the exclusion of a member from the formed Chapter without prejudice.

4. Upon approval of the Chapter by the Board, the Chapter Coordinator shall appoint an alternate from the Chapter Members who shall serve in his stead in the event of his no longer being a member, incapacity, or any other reason he cannot fulfill the duties of his office. The Chapter Coordinator shall inform the Board of Directors of this choice.

5. At-large members may become Chapter Members if the Chapter Coordinator allows their membership in the Chapter except as otherwise provided in this Constitution. Chapter Coordinators shall inform the Board of Directors of the change in status of the member by forwarding details of the member's membership identification to the Board of Directors.

This custom is known even from the prehistoric times, when óðal properties were called oþila properties, like the rune sign. Óðal is Norse and derives from Proto-Norse oþila that translates as allodial possession. Those who owned such a property made up the nobility of the ancient society. The modern Scandinavian word noble, adel, derives from Norse óðal, and even today we still call such properties odel properties. Odel naturally derives from Norse óðal too.
